music has shaped my life in so many ways that i can't even begin to dissect each.

it's the sense of escapism one can acquire through music that keeps me tied to it so closely. it's such an integral part of my being, and has always been a constant. i'm learning to let go of the 'label' when it comes to artists, and simply just enjoy the music itself. that has done wonders for me. discovering new artists is such a novel experience, and it's something i try to do as often as i can, in order to expand my palette.

i've been spinning Santigold by Santigold a lot recently.

i've heard a lot of things about santigold, but i wasn't sure where to start. naturally, one would begin with their debut album, so that's what i did. it's hard to explain exactly what genre this album is, but that's what i love about it. it doesn't conform to any label. it's boundary-pushing and such a unique listen from front to back. i've enjoyed listening to it heavily. on the way to school, in the gym, at home. it fits every occasion. definitely check it out, strongly recommend it.
